* This
is one of most magnificent mosques not only in Iran , but world wide.
Photographers and tourists are attracted to capture the shining interior of
this unique mosque. We could say it is piece of art and splendor. In my travel list to visit.
Nasir
al Molk masjid (مسجد ناصر الملک) is made by one of the leaders of Qajar era – Mirza Hasan (Ali Nasir
al Molk) in 17 cent. It took twelve years for the masterpiece to be designed
and completed in 1888. The interior of the mosque looks like amazing
kaleidoscope of colors and light. That effect made the place popular with the
name “The Rainbow mosque” or “Mosque of colors”. It was designed so that by
entering of sun light through the stained window glass, it creates vibrant
breath taking view of swirling colors all around the inner space.
Nasir
as Molk is known also as the “Pink mosque” due to the pinkish, rose tiles used
mainly for its façade. The architecture combines classic and modern elements,
making it remarkable and with unique presence. In the historic eras Iranian
crafts were specialized in tiles and ceramic art, they were attracted too by
the art of stained glass from Turkey and Italy (Venice glass). Persian art
specially improved these techniques and uses them in mosques architecture.
The
mosque has 2 eastern and western chambers –the eastern one has altar with
twelve columns and window with colorful glass.
One
of the most splendid mosques, play of lights, colors, glass and tiles, this is
a sacred place for anyone travel plans. The walls and the columns are designed
and covered with colorful pink and yellow tiles, depicting flowers and
geometric shapes.
Be
sure to visit the mosque in appropriate time in the morning, where you can
enjoy the game of light flashes.
